annabelle’s fall capsule wardrobe

If you visited the blog yesterday you know that I revealed the fall capsule wardrobe that I’ll be wearing through November. Since I do the majority of shopping for Annabelle {aside from the occasional matching set at Costco that Ken might pick up} I was struggling with a lot of the same things for her: impulse purchases, buying things that she would rarely {or never} wear and lacking cohesiveness. While I don’t want Annabelle and I to be matchy matchy I do love when our clothes compliment each other so I thought creating a capsule wardrobe for her would be a great idea.

Here’s what I ended up with!

There are 49 items in Annabelle’s capsule although that includes a couple sets of socks and bows. It was hard to leave them out, they’re so cute! Here is how it breaks down:

  • 17 tops
  • 11 bottoms
  • 4 dresses
  • 4 jackets
  • 5 shoes
  • 2 sets of socks
  • 2 tights
  • 4 bows

It might seem like a lot but if you have a child you know that they grow so fast that there was very little I could carry over from Annabelle’s fall and winter wardrobe last year. Luckily most of these items should last well into the spring so my goal is to only swap out a few items when I create our winter capsules, incorporating a few festive holiday pieces and a warmer winter coat and leaving the rest. That’s the great thing about a capsule wardrobe, it sets such a great foundation.

If it wasn’t already obvious that Annabelle was mine it is now. She is so excited for her new clothes! This weekend I’ll be putting away all of her summer items so that there’s no confusion when we’re getting dressed this morning. I would also like to mention that since she’s a toddler who has a very strong opinion if she does want to wear a pair of princess shoes or her Sophia the First costume I’m going to try not to argue. She’s finding her own style and I just love that about her. I’ve found it’s all about flexibility and picking your battles!
